Did you know that ...
- The Putnam Valley Elementary School has a wonderful Author's Program
that is funded jointly by the district and the PTA.
- The Putnam Valley Elementary School has a Parents As Reading Partners
Program (PARP) that is unique to the school. It runs year round instead
of a month or two, which is usual in surrounding schools. It includes a
Grandparents' Tea that is extremely well attended.
- Two Putnam Valley students received recognition for their work
in cosmetology and welding at the BOCES Technical Center in Yorktown.
- The total staff of the Putnam Valley Schools is 170; 93.5 are
teaching staff and 70.5 are the support staff with six administrators.Putnam
Valley transports 1,900 students every day.
- Putnam Valley buses students to twenty-nine schools daily.
- Two Putnam Valley students were recipients of the Putnam County Youth
Award.
- Half the seniors in the top 10% at Walter Panas High School come
from Putnam Valley, even though Putnam Valley children comprise 44% of the
total.
- The administrators from Copper Beech Middle School, Walter Panas High
School and Putnam Valley meet regularly to discuss the transition of our
students to high school and to coordinate curriculum between the
districts.
